Winning the "Ananda Vikatan" competition

Kalam studied engineering in college at MIT. Involved in the Tamil Society. At that time "Ananda Vikatan" weekly magazine, M.I.T. He participated in a literary essay competition organized jointly by the Tamil Society.

An essay written by Kalam in Science Tamil titled “Agaya Vimana Kathulumu” won the competition and was published in Ananda Vikadan!

Kalam in Rishikesh

When Kalam applied for a job in the Indian Air Force, he did not get the job. Kalam went to Rishikesh to get rid of depression. There he bowed down to Swami Sivananda and complained to him about his lack of employment. "Forget failure, try, move forward" Swamikal blessed Kalam.

Linkage of rivers

Kalam was the one who tried to make students dream. Among the dreams he had was "rivers to be joined" prominently. “One side of India is devastated by floods and the other side is devastated by drought without water. Interlinking of rivers will provide additional irrigation facilities. Kalam told the government that drinking water will quench the thirst of the people.

Glider aircraft flown

Kalam, who wrote an article titled Let's Build an Airplane, actually got a chance to build an airplane.

With the guidance of MIT professors, Kalam and his friends completed an engineless aircraft called a “glider”, a first in India.

The plane completed by the Kalam team was disassembled and taken to Meenambakkam. Put the glider back together and flew lightly with hot air injected.

Although it cannot be compared to the actual flight, it was a good opportunity for Kalam to get such an opportunity during his student days. MIT All the students took pride in this as their personal achievement.

Kalam then trained at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore. It was there that he felt the aircraft engine by touching it with his hands.

With the HAL training, Kalam's technical degree was completed. He graduated from MIT with an aeronautical engineering degree.

Kalam joined the job

In 1958, Kalam joined the Union Ministry of Defense in the Technical Development Department.

Here he has an aviation related job. Work like designing airplanes and improving them to perform better. I got a salary of 250 rupees per month.

After that he was transferred to A.D.E., Bangalore. There is a "hovercraft" machine, without any foreign help, at all

Kalam was mandated to manufacture in India.

Immediately, Kalam formed a group and based on the information he had read, he created India. "Hovercraft" die

The hovercraft engine was invented

A hover craft is a powered machine that hovers a few feet above the ground when needed on land or water.

India will save a lot of money if we build the hovercraft ourselves rather than buying it from abroad.

So Kalam roused his small team and set to work. Hovercraft started to be developed in India based on the information we had read and learned in the hope that we could develop a new hovercraft engine.
