 Accident in the laboratory :

One day, Kalam and his colleague Sudhakar were making arrangements to launch a rocket at the Thumba Missile Rocket Test Laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

At that time, both of them prepared fuel by mixing sodium and thomite. Then they filled a cell with this mixture.

When Sudhakar went near the prepared sodium mixture and peeped into it, a drop of sweat from Sudhagar's forehead fell into it and the mixture started burning.

The room burst into flames with a loud bang.

Sensing the situation, Sudhakar broke the glass doors of the room with his hands and threw Kalam through the window and escaped.

Due to this, Sudhakar, who suffered burns, was treated at the hospital for a few days and recovered.

Abdul Kalam's Three Point of View

Kalam has three visions of how India should be. He says about it,

SLV-3 :

"Firstly I spent 20 years of my life in Indian space research. I was given the opportunity to serve as the Project Director for launching India's first satellite launch vehicle, Avia SLV-3. It was the most memorable event in my life.

Agni Missile :

Secondly, I joined the Defense Research and Development Institute after my stint with the Indian Space Research Organization. I got an opportunity to work as a part of India's missile program. In 1994 I was delighted when I got all the "Agni" missile launch positions.

Nuclear test :

Thirdly, the Department of Atomic Energy and the Department of Defense and Development conducted the nuclear tests in May in close coordination. This is my third happiness.

This happiness has made me proud to be an Indian as India stands tall as one of the developed countries in the world arena," he said.

A successor to the Agni series, the "Agni-5" missile has a strike range of 5,000 to 8,000 km.

Prithvi missile :

Prithvi series also produced various powerful missiles.

Kalam invented the "Prithvi" surface-to-surface missile that could carry a 1000 kg bomb up to 250 km.

By inventing the 'Prithvi' Missile, it made India equal to America's invention. Subsequently Akash, Trishul, Nag, Agni Missile and Arjun Cannon were developed by Kalam!

Agni 1 Missile AGNI I MISSILE :

In 1974, R.Venkatraman, who was the Defense Minister, advised Kalam that instead of making missiles in phases, we should embark on an integrated missile development program.

Kalam liked the defense minister's advice. Accordingly, he immediately worked hard to prepare a detailed plan.

Agni - 1 Missile :

Agni 1 Missile, Prithvi Missile etc. were produced under this project. Both are capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

Kalam wanted that to be the last time. This made a section angry with Kalam.

During his tenure as President, Abdul Kalam spoke to members of parliament and state legislatures regarding Vision 2020.
