2 Letters by Kalam 

2012  Kalam has written 2 letters about contesting the presidential election. This information has been written by his former assistant Srijan Palsingh in a new book written by him.

First letter

In the first letter written by Abdul Kalam about contesting the presidential election for the 2nd term, it is said, "Brothers, I have decided to contest this election with your greatness. I know that I have very little support in the election. I will lose in this election. But I have already won the hearts of the common people.

I have won. Now I am contesting elections for duty.

I do not belong to any party. I am a scientist and aspiring teacher. I do not have the support of any party, leaders or volunteers. I request you to campaign for me. Whether I win or lose, the same love should be showered on me!

This was stated in the letter. He concluded the letter by quoting some verses from the Bhagavad Gita.

Second letter

Kalam wrote another (second) letter insisting that he should not contest.

It said, "I don't want to become president twice again. Some party leaders including Mamata Banerjee want me to contest as their party candidate. The public also wants me to contest."

This was stated in the letter. Both the letters are included in a new book written by Kalam's former aide Srijan Balsingh.

Kural in Chinese

Once he met the Chinese poet Yusi Abdul Kalam. Then Kalam made a request to him. He gave him the 2000-year-old Tirukkulla and asked him to read its English translation. "If you like what you read, publish Thirukkural in Chinese," he asked.

Kalam's 10 Affirmations for Students, Youth!

1. I will work honestly. I will win honestly.

2. I will sow the seed of great ambition in my life. Small ambition is a crime. I will seek and acquire knowledge to achieve the ambition. I will work hard. I will defeat the attitude of failure and win with no effort.

3. I will be an informed and intelligent member of my family, my community, my Tamil Nadu, my Indian nation and this 

World.

4. Regardless of caste, religion, race, language, country, I will always help someone to succeed in life, not only change their mind, but also change their character.

5. I will never indulge in wasteful habits like drinking, drug addiction, gambling etc. I will save at least five people who are addicted to those drugs from their misery and make a change in their lives for the better.

6. Respect the importance of time. I will never waste the days of my life in vain activities.

7. I will plant at least five trees on this earth, nurture them and protect them and strive to make this earth a clean, green earth. I will give life to Uruni. I will strive for clean water for all.

8. Being a part of the younger generation of this country, I will work with courage, valor and wisdom to succeed in all my endeavors.

Not only that. No matter who wins, I will appreciate their success wholeheartedly and rejoice.

9. I am young in my faith and old in my doubts. Therefore, I will light the torch of knowledge of faith in my heart and win.

10. I will carry my national flag in my heart and bring honor and respect to my Indian nation and my Tamil nation on the world stage!
